Whimsical Wednesday / World Projects

My 3 youngest recently had world projects as assignments in school. They each had to choose a country, research info about their country, write an essay, and make a display board along with any extra props they wanted to share. The grand finale was to present an educational talk sharing with the class what they had learned.

Elijah chose the country of Congo in central Africa located on the equator.

For Elijah's extra props he made an African kufi cap and hut, a rainforest habitat, and his on homemade fishing net like the people in Congo use to walk in the streams and catch fish.

He also shared with the class a Safari video of tourist Gorilla trekking in Congo to the tune of $1000 per day, and they could only shoot their cameras! LOL!

Janiah chose the country of Switzerland!

She's dressed in modern attire like you would wear on the famous Swiss Alps. She would love to go skiing there one day.

For her additional props she made her adorable Swiss village nestled at the base of her Swiss Alps, a doll adorned in a traditional homemade Swiss dress, and 5 things that Switzerland is famous for. Plus she served us some Swiss cheese and Swiss chocolates, while we watched her tour of Switzerland video.

Olivia chose the very diverse country of India. Here she is adorned in her very own homemade, tie-dyed Indian saree which she loved. I'm not sure which she liked best the tie-dying and making it or the wearing it. Come to think of it . . . probably wearing it, since she wore it all day. She fell in love with the art of tie-dying.

Her other props were her flag of India that she fastened to the globe, and pics of the Taj Mahal. She also served us some lemon yellow rice using a recipe that our friends Pastor Balu & the children at the New Life Orphan Children's Home in India had sent us. She also shared a video of the children at the Children's Home in India clapping and singing praises to God in their native language.

Elijah, Janiah, and Olivia worked for weeks on their projects and did such a good job with their presentations. If you see them around town or at church, please encourage them by letting them know you saw their work on FB or you could even leave them a message here! They would be so tickled! Thank you in advance.

Dear Elijah, Janiah, and Olivia,

What a fantastic display of each country! I was blown away by the attention to detail in your boards. It shows you researched well! The props, food, attire, diorama, and other artistic work was top notch and I just wish I would have listened to your presentations! I am sure they were outstanding!
