Teaching Tuesday / "No Place Like Home"

I'm going to let my daughter Rebekah do the teaching today. This year, more than any other, we have been made aware of the priceless gift of family and HOME! During this season let's make sure that what's most valuable, our loved ones who have a home in our hearts, are made aware of how special they are to us . . . truly, our family, our loved ones are home.

Rebekah wrote this paper when she was in high school, and she says it so perfectly that I can't improve on it. -

"NO PLACE LIKE HOME"

by: Rebekah Walker

Home is somewhere you can go to in time of need. Home is where families welcome you back after you have been gone for what seems like forever. Home is where love is, and it never leaves you. It's where fun memories are. Home is where you've laughed and cried. It's where you turn to the ones you love for advice or just tell them your feelings. Home is where you run to when you are hurt or going through heart break.

This is how all homes should be, but sadly they aren't. Some homes today are messed up because parents and kids make the wrong choices. Some children leave home or the parents get divorced. When a parent gets divorced , the kid has to go through hurt and rejection. Not only with divorce, but the parent could have never been in their life, and they feel the pain and rejection. Almost all of my friends parents are divorced, and they would love to live at my house. Whenever they come over or just visit, they always tell me that they want to come back, because it's not like their homes.

There are kids all over the world who don't have homes, and they live in shacks. It is very sad, because most people don't want to help these kids. They just push them to the side and forget about them. Home is supposed to be for every one not just for some people. Home is to be a refuge for you to go to. Home is a place for you to remember and tell your kids about. Our family is all about making homes for kids who don't have one. We want those who don't have a home to be placed in loving families who will love them forever until their very last breath. That is what I think a home should be like.

Amen, Rebekah! How did you have such wisdom at such a young age!

My Prayer is that you all get to go HOME for Christmas, because truly there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME! AND HOME IS WITH THOSE YOU LOVE! . . .

and if you see one of those little ones that Rebekah mentioned that doesn't have loved ones, doesn't have a home, maybe, just maybe, YOU SHOULD BE THEIR HOME!
