Teaching Tuesday / Teach Them How To Pray!

As your children travel down the road of life, I can promise you that there will be a lot of crooks and turns, bumps in the road, and construction delays along the way . . . it's called LIFE!

I can also assure you that you will never teach your child anything more important than when you teach them how to pray!

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing in I Thessalonians 5:17. What that means is that our hearts are to be so tuned towards the Lord that we recognize He is with us at all times. It simply means that we communicate with Him like we would our best friend as we travel through our day.

There are times that I have realized in horror that it's been 3 hours since I last spoke with Jesus or even knowledge His presence in my life - the very thought mortifies me!

I can't possibly be teaching my children to pray if I'm not acknowledging the Lord's presence throughout my day.

Dear Parent, you are not always going to be there in every situation in your child's life. There are going to be choices as to which road should they take, and the only way to successfully navigate those decisions is with the Lord's directions. The fastest and easiest way to receive His directions is through PRAYER!

Deuteronomy 6:7 says, ' You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." That pretty much sounds to me like He is saying ALL THE TIME . It kind of sounds like without CEASING!

So regardless of how many curves ahead in the road of life, your child will always know what to do because you have trained them to talk to the One who will never leave or forsake them, and who has all the wisdom that they will ever need!
