Faithful Friday/ Faithful to Speak:Joseph's Story

The summer of 2000 I became somewhat upset with God. I wanted Him to speak to me just like He spoke to Noah and Moses with exact, precise details. He told them just how many cubits this way and that for building the Ark and the tabernacle. For months, I bombarded Heaven crying out to Father God for Him to speak to me in details. I was absolutely passionate to hear His voice clearly.

Well, on June 22, 2000, God spoke using Genesis 30:24 saying that He would give us another son and his name was Joseph. I dated and marked the scripture in my Bible plus recorded it all in my journal.

That fall, on September 19, our private adoption agency called me. They had an unusual case where a 7 year old little boy named Chuck needed a temporary foster home due to an adoption disruption.

I told the worker that I didn't do fostering so well, but we would adopt him. But the agency was concerned with the amount of rejection that the little fella had been through. Their thinking was that he would need to be placed in a home where he would get more individual attention. I'm not sure how many children we had at the time, but it was more than a dozen still at home.

The Agency director was to pray about letting us adopt him and get with us the next day. Through the night Holy Spirit did what He does best, He turned the heart of the king (aka the director) like He turns the river. Our new son was coming home.

The workers arrived that afternoon with Chuck. After his welcome home supper, and all the kids were finally settled for the night, I collapsed in my recliner tired but happy! I decided to sort through some of Chuck's paperwork.

When I came across his birth certificate , tears sprang into my eyes, and I began to weep. Chuck's middle name was Joseph! I cried and cried! I remembered God's Promise back in June and I was utterly humbled that He had answered my prayers by revealing such details about our next son. My cup overflowed with awe, wonder, and gratitude! As I went to sleep that night my heart sang Father's praises, but He wasn't through with His surprise nor His promise!

Here's a short exert from my 1st book, Refuge Ranch: A Story for His Glory, that will tell the rest of the story:

"The next day I put in to find the scripture that I'd marked back during the summer that You had given to me proclaiming Your promise of our son named Joseph. There is was; Genesis 30:24, with June 22, 2000 dated next to it. Then I continued sorting Joseph's paperwork. The agency had written a brief history of their involvement in Joseph's life. as I started to read it, I was absolutely stunned! It began with the statement:

"Birth mom contacted agency on the morning of June 22, 2000 . . . "

I started bawling! On the exact same day and time that the birth mom called the agency asking for help, You told me that You were giving us a son named Joseph!

I made the mistake of calling the agency before I regained my composure. I was almost incoherent, because I was crying so hard. It scared the worker. She thought Joseph had ran away or something horrible had happened. I began to reassure her.

"No! No! You misunderstand. These are happy tears. In case anyone woke up this morning wondering if you made the right decision about placing Joseph in a home with so many other children, I just wanted to let you know what God had to say about it!'

Then I shared what You had revealed with scripture, dates, names, and timing. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that Joseph was finally home!"

And there was no doubt in my heart that my Daddy, the God of Details, had just answered my prayers and spoken specifically, in detail just like I had asked! He's Faithful to Speak!
