Faithful Friday / Shopping in God's Warehouse

I want to share a little game that I used to play as I was learning to live this abundant life that Jesus wanted me to have. I grew up feeling undeserving. So, I really believe that this little prayer visual game was God's way of teaching me how easily accessible His blessings in abundant living truly are.
So here goes:
The Lord had finally got through to me that He had blessings that He wanted me to have. I was to imagine this huge warehouse. Everything in God's warehouse was free! All I had to do was enter and pick whatever I needed. How's that for a shopping spree? [BTW this was decades ago when I still liked shopping! LOL!]
One day I might need a bracelet of peace or a robe of kindness. Tomorrow my need might be a crown of wisdom or a necklace of faith. I know this sounds silly, but it helped to train me to "come boldly to the throne of grace" ( Hebrews 4:16).
This went on for a couple of years. Then one day I approached the warehouse in a bad- tempered mood. Truth be told, I was down right mad and "in my flesh" in a major way. I decided to go shopping because I was in such need, but this time something different happened.
As I approached God's warehouse in prayer, I put out my hand to open the door and God said,
"You can't come in here dressed like that."
He knew it was time for another lesson. I stopped dead in my tracks, questioning Him as to what He meant. Lovingly, He began to explain that I was clothed in anger, selfishness, and unforgiveness. He lovingly told me that I could not enter His Kingdom so inappropriately dressed. Even at this stage of my Christian walk, I knew that I needed to confess and repent. So in prayer, I exchanged my filthy rages for His robe of righteousness ( Isaiah 61:10). It was so simple, so quick. Immediately, I was restored to His Kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy (Romans 14:17).
It may have been silly, almost childish, but it taught me that I could run to Daddy God for any and every need. And guess what? You can too!
