Faithful Friday / Our Gifts To Jesus!

Years ago we started a family tradition for Christmas Day! Since it is Jesus’ birthday, we decided to each give Him a birthday present. That’s the last thing we do on Christmas Day. We gather around our family candles, sing Happy Birthday to Jesus, and open His gifts!

The gifts have varied through the years. Some of the children have given Him pencils to remind them that they would do their school work as unto the Lord. There have been candles to help the giver remember to be the light of the world for Jesus. Pictures of boyfriends given to remind that child to not have idols more important than God. Pictures of boots to remind that little one not to stomp his feet in anger. Miniature cars as reminders of surrendering the driver’s seat of their lives to Jesus since He’s the best one to steer our lives. And the list goes on and on . . . from our mouths shut for His glory, to watches to keep us mindful to spend time with Him, to credit cards so we would let Him teach us stewardship!

For years we kept the box of Jesus’ gifts , but due to quantity with our XXX-large family and the years of being handled some gifts looked more like trash than treasures.

So, I made us a scrapbook of JESUS’ BIRTHDAY GIFTS, including the ones that were small enough to fit within the scrapbook. I also made a list of each gift shared and given by each of us explaining what the gift represented that we were giving to Jesus that year.

One year I got quite a surprise. I had Jesus’ gift wrapped, and I was so excited to give my gift to Him. I was talking to Him and told Him how excited I was - anticipating His Birthday and getting to share my gift with Him. When out of the blue, I hear Him say,

"I don't want that." - To say I was stunned is an understatement! These many years later I can't even remember what it was that I was going to give Him.

When I regained my breath, I haltingly asked, "Well, what do you want then?"

In His loving sweet voice, He replied, "I want you to let Me plug you into My Holy Spirit Power!"

That is so like Him. You absolutely can't out give Him. I was wanting to bless Him, and His heart was to bless me. So, I said, "I will!", . . . that was approximately 25 years ago. That year I gave my Sweet JESUS the end of a drop cord with the plug on it to remind me that I was giving Him permission to plug me into His Holy Spirit Power. He was faithful to do what He said, and my life has never been the same!

Take Home Thought: If you are feeling weary, depleted, and defeated, ask Jesus to fill you with His Holy Spirit POWER. He will! AND THEN YOUR LIFE, TOO, WILL BE FOREVER CHANGED!
